Optimization product data in GS1 Data Source

Tentive / Customer Cases / Optimization product data in GS1 Data Source

Recently, 24ICE reached out to us with a request for assistance in two areas: first, the upload of new products to the GS1 Data Source, and second, a review of the existing 24ICE product data already present in the GS1 Data Source. This is exactly the type of activity we take on for our clients under the banner of “Data Management As A Service.” A few weeks later, the project was successfully completed. Here’s a brief reflection on the assignment from both our MDM Consultant and the client.

Support with GS1 Data Source
Tentive MDM Consultant: “24ICE asked if Tentive could help with the upload and verification of product data in the GS1 Data Source. Of course, we can! This was a great project for me, as I was able to provide our client with full support for an entire week. Not only did I upload several new products, but I also carried out a quality check on all the products already listed in GS1.”

Full Support and Quality Control
Supply Chain Manager 24ICE: “At 24ICE, we operate with a small team but have big ambitions. Our cocktail ice pops are sold worldwide, and every year we expand into new markets, countries, and customers. A crucial step in our growth is ensuring our data is properly structured—both in our ERP system and in GS1. However, when it came to GS1, we lacked both the time and the in-house expertise to make real progress. This led us to seek external support. After some initial email and phone contact, it became clear that Tentive was the right partner for the job. Tentive was able to act quickly, and within a few days, one of their consultants was working on-site with us. On the first day, we provided an introduction to 24ICE and shared our requirements.”

Structured Product Information
Tentive MDM Consultant: “A great example of what we focused on was the product descriptions in GS1. It quickly becomes clear when multiple people are working with product data, as each person tends to do it in their own way. As a result, product descriptions that should be similar end up being inconsistent. Using the information available in GS1’s data model, we worked with the client to better define all product information. We established clear guidelines to ensure that specific information is placed in the correct fields. We then reviewed all descriptions of published and active products and enhanced them with clearer product descriptions.”

Efficient Collaboration and a Successful Outcome
Supply Chain Manager 24ICE: “The Tentive consultant got to work immediately, and whenever we had questions or comments, we could quickly align. After the first day on-site, we were able to continue working remotely, with daily updates on the progress. Overall, it was a great experience working with Tentive, and we were able to make a significant improvement in data quality!”

Data Management as a Service
This project was carried out by Tentive as part of our Data Management As A Service offerings. We support our clients with both content-related data management activities, where we take work off their hands, as well as process-related tasks, where we collaborate with the client to optimize data processes and organizational structures. Interested in what we can do for your organization? Feel free to reach out—we would be happy to discuss the possibilities!
